On Viernes, Oct. 24, Guilford County Schools hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil a new fleet of propane-powered school buses from Gregory Poole Equipment Company.
The event, held at Dudley High School, was attended by officials from Gregory Poole and Guilford County Schools, along with representatives from the Triad’s ABC 45 News.
Gregory Poole is the only authorized Blue Bird dealer in North Carolina and South Carolina and offers a wide range of electric, propane, gas, and diesel buses. Propane buses have become more popular with school systems due to being more cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Part of what makes propane buses so cost effective is the reduced maintenance costs.
“It’s a huge benefit for the maintenance team. We don’t have any of the emission components that cause extended downtime; it’s a big plus for the community,” Kirk Burns, Bus Business Sales Manager at Gregory Poole, told ABC 45 News.
With the addition of 10 propane Blue Bird buses from Gregory Poole, Guilford County Schools joins multiple school districts in the state who are helping reduce greenhouse gas, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, and smog-producing hydrocarbon emissions while providing transportation access to students across the community.
