SAMPLING TECHNIQUES & ORDERING KITS |
Properly collecting a sample is the first step in the S•O•S Program. Samples free from contamination are the only way to ensure accurate test results and interpretation. By using these simple techniques, you will be able to maintain the integrity of your sample and guarantee an accurate evaluation.
Oil Sampling Technique
-
The compartment should be brought to operating temperature. This evenly mixes any contaminants.
-
Always sample prior to adding make-up oil. Topping off the fluid level will dilute the sample.
-
Use either a hand pump or sampling value available for pressurized systems. Never catch a sample as the oil is being drained from the compartment as this could cause contamination.
-
Use a clean, dry container supplied with the sample kit.
-
Fill out label completely.
-
Put sample and label into the prepaid mailer and drop in the mail.
Coolant Sampling Technique
-
Run the equipment until the coolant temperature reaches 180 - 195 degrees F.
-
Collect a sample from the radiator's top tank using a suction gun.
-
Avoid collecting samples from bends in hoses and pipes on water manifolds.
-
Fill the bottle completely then unscrew the bottle from the suction gun before removing the sampling tube from the tank.
-
Fill out label completely.
-
Put sample and label into the prepaid mailer and drop in the mail. |
