STANDARD WARRANTY FOR NEW ON-HIGHWAY ENGINES

Caterpillar's standard warranty is on of the best in the industry. For new engines, the standard warranty coverage varies by engine model and application. Standard warranty begins after date of delivery to the first user. In situations where coverage is specified in months, or mileage, or hours, the warranty will expire at the time of whichever measurement occurs first. Select a model below for more details:


C15

C15The standard warranty period for new C15 engines powering on-highway vehicles, other than those powering recreational vehicles, fire trucks, emergency service vehicles and ambulances, is 24 months after date of delivery to the first user.

For new C15 engines powering recreational vehicles, fire trucks, emergency service vehicles and ambulances, the standard warranty period is 60 months or 200,000 miles (321,869 kilometers), whichever occurs first after date of delivery to the first user.

A standard extended warranty period applies to new C15 engines powering on-highway vehicles (other than those powering recreational vehicles, fire trucks, emergency service vehicles and ambulances) and applies solely to the following components: cylinder block casting, crankshaft, connecting rod assemblies, cylinder head casting, camshaft, main bearing bolts, flywheel housing, oil cooler housing, water pump housing, air intake housing, and electronic control module.
These parts are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for 60 months or 500,000 miles (804,672 kilometers) or 10,000 operating hours, whichever occurs first after date of delivery to the first user. This warranty runs concurrently with the standard warranty period.

 C11 / C13

C13The standard warranty period for new C11 / C13 engines powering on-highway vehicles, other than those powering recreational vehicles, fire trucks, emergency service vehicles and ambulances, is 24 months after date of delivery to the first user.

For new C11 / C13 engines powering recreational vehicles, fire trucks, emergency service vehicles and ambulances, the standard warranty period is 60 months or 200,000 miles (321,869 kilometers), whichever occurs first after date of delivery to the first user.

 C9

C9The standard warranty period for new C9 engines powering on-highway vehicles, other than those powering school buses, recreation vehicles, fire trucks, emergency service vehicles, ambulances, and specialty trucks, is 24 months after date of delivery to the first user.

For other applications, standard warranty is as follows:

  • Recreational vehicles: 60 months or 200,000 miles (321,869 kilometers), whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the first user.
  • School buses, fire trucks, emergency service vehicles and ambulances: 60 months or 6000 operating hours, whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the first user.
  • Specialty trucks*: 60 months or 150,000 miles (241,402 kilometers) or 3600 operating hours, whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the first user. ( *Note: Specialty trucks are defined as vehicles that are used solely for personal purposes and are not used for commercial (revenue producing) purposes. For example, pulling trailers for recreational or hobby activities, such as boats, horses, racecars, etc., is considered personal use.)

 C7

C7The standard warranty period for new C7 engines powering on-highway vehicles, other than those powering school buses, recreational vehicles, fire trucks, emergency service vehicles, ambulances and specialty trucks (defined below), is 36 months or 150,000 miles (241,402 kilometers) or 3600 operating hours, whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the first user.

For other applications, the standard warranty is as follows:

  • Recreational vehicles: 60 months or 200,000 miles (321,869 kilometers) whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the first user.
  • School buses, Fire trucks, Emergency service vehicles and ambulances: 60 months or 6000 operating hours, whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the first user.
  • Specialty trucks*: (i.e., not "for hire" trucks equipped for pulling trailers or fifth-wheel-type trailers) 60 months or 150,000 miles (241,402 kilometers) or 3600 operating hours, whichever occurs first, after date of delivery to the first user. ( *Note: Specialty trucks are defined as vehicles that are used solely for personal purposes and are not used for commercial (revenue producing) purposes. For example, pulling trailers for recreational or hobby activities, such as boats, horses, racecars, etc., is considered personal use.)
