Auxiliary Power Unit (APU)

Truck drivers are often forced to idle their trucks during required rest periods to provide heat, air conditioning, or electricity for other applications. Due to No Idle Law and Idling Regulations in many states idling is no longer an option. Auxiliary power units (APUs) can help truck drivers comply with local idling ordinances, reduce emissions and noise, and save on the cost of truck fuel and maintenance.

A product of passion and persistence, BLACKROCK's designs are rooted in aerospace standards. Test after test, both at the computer and in the field, have confirmed its steadfast reliability. The BLACKROCK APU provides drivers with optimal cab comfort without having to idle the main engine, thanks to its on board generator supplying 120 volt AC power, 55 amp alternator and 26,000 BTU/hr of cab heating and cooling.

HOW THE BLACKROCK APU CONNECTS TO YOUR TRUCK

BLACKROCK is a self-contained auxiliary power unit system. By requiring only minimal connections to the main engine's system we protect your investment and your truck's warranty. Installing the BLACKROCK APU only requires the following very minimal modifications:

The BLACKROCK APU connects to your fuel tank via separate fuel pick up and return lines.

BLACKROCK is connected to the truck's main batteries for APU startup and charging the truck main battery packs.

All BLACKROCK APU's are built to operate independently and each APU has its own self-contained coolant and A/C condenser system with the following features:

• The condenser is mounted inside of the APU, NOT on the back wall of the sleeper cab as other units are;
• radiator and dual electric radiator fans are contained within the APU for cooling in extreme heat;
• BLACKROCK APU does not share coolant with the truck's main engine.

Separate exhaust system which is ducted to the rear of the truck, preventing exhaust from entering the sleeper cab

All hoses and A/C lines are included for simple and foolproof installation

All BLACKROCK APU's come standard with quick disconnect and keyed electrical cables for ease of service and to prevent installation errors.
